The Last One by Amanda Ajomale

Well, here we have it, folks. This blog post is the last in the series and I want to end by saying, “What a blast!”

Now, we all know of the physical, emotional, social, and often, spiritual benefits that movement has on the body, but writing this blog has opened my eyes to a new outcome that I hadn’t even considered before.

Moving the body makes you want to move the body!

You know, like the whole “Law of Attraction” thing.

The more you move, the more you’ll want to move. This is because our brains release “happy hormones” when we exercise.

I’m talking endorphins, serotonin, dopamine – all of which trigger that euphoric sensation at the end of a session.

This, in turn, leads to lower stress levels and a boost in self-esteem, among a myriad of other health benefits (seriously, look it up).

So, then, I think it’s pretty safe to say that dance, and all forms of physical exercise, are like a body-healing addiction – you have your post workout highs, and then that groggy feeling you get when you know it’s time for another fix.

I suppose this is why former and recovering addicts often find new, adrenaline-pumping forms of exercise to feel that “buzz” again. It’s like transferring one addiction to another and reaping the same hormonal benefits, except these ones help to extend your lifespan while also leaving you feeling freaking fantastic!

I say this, not because I am a recovering addict, but because I have noticed that since I started taking the Body Remedy classes, my body has been fiending for MORE! I’ve enrolled myself in local skating lessons, voguing lessons, pole fitness, capoeira, and even gymnastics!

Now, before I get ahead of myself, I need to clarify that I am still the mother of a child without any consistent childcare (cheers Rona) so I don’t do any of these as regularly as I should, but if I could, boy, would I never sleep! In a previous blog I definitely explained how much I loved moving the body anyway, and it could very well be for this exact reason.

Now, since it is Olympic season, I want to end this blog series on a few final thoughts. If you could be an Olympic athlete, what would your sport be, and why? What excites you enough to turn on your laptop, your TV, or even leave your home if you can, to get your body moving?

This Panorama has changed every single one of our lives, and our routines. So, imagine you are now presented with the opportunity to do absolutely anything, that one thing you’ve always wanted to try, what’s stopping you from starting?

You never know, you might just find your newest addiction, and that might just be the very thing you’ve been looking for all along.

Thank you so much for reading this series. If you’ve enjoyed it, head on over to my website to see my full blog and the writing services I provide.

Big love to you all, and remember, move your body!
