Physical sessions to support physical and mental wellbeing for Black Womxn, Womxn of Colour + Non Binary People of Colour.

Using exercise as a form of self-care and furthering of one's connection and understanding to the body. Sessions are to support physical and mental wellbeing for Black Womxn, Womxn of Colour + Non Binary People of Colour. Classes are led by different teachers. Aimed for all levels though it is understood not all classes will be suited to you. It is recommended to try multiple classes before ruling things out. Often the mind and body needs some adjusting.

Founded by Mele Broomes. Mele has been based in Scotland for 13 years and grew up in Southampton around lots of social dancing in a Caribbean family. As a child she was part of a Black-led artistic gymnastic team before going into formal dance training. Qualifications include: BA in Contemporary Dance Practice, Hatha Yoga 200 Hours, and a Women's Artistic Gymnastics Coach Level 1; though she doesn’t look at qualification as the sole certification to authentic teaching. Mele's’ experiences have influenced her teaching and this feds into her thoughts around care and consent.

"I hope these sessions can help support self-motivation, love for your body and new relationships with yourself and others."

The videos below are reference points to some of the principles used in Body Remedy. Watch them for inspiration, understanding and navigating your health and well-being.

Classes are free of charge.

However, we take donations to support the running of the classes. Body Remedy currently offers financial support for travel, child care and access where possible. We would like to voice the importance of community support. Though the intention is to keep the classes free going forward. We ask that if you are able to make a donation, please do. This will enable Body Remedy to continue into the future.  Black owned businesses’ are few and far between.

We are trying to navigate making these classes accessible to those who need it, whilst allowing this Black owned business to flourish.
